Bollywood legend Sridevi, who passed away in Dubai on Feb. 24, made a remarkable contribution to Indian cinema over close to five decades. She was among the first South Indian women to foray into Bollywood during Indian cinema's classic age.

Sridevi will also be remembered for her impressive performances in South Indian films. Making her on-screen debut as a child artist in Tamil film 'Thunaivan', she worked in Kannada and Telugu as well. 'Bhaktha Kumbara' starring Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar marked the Kannada debut of Sridevi as a child artist. The movie directed by Hunsur Krishnamurthy was released in 1974.

Sridevi was also seen as a child artist in other Kannada films like 'Bala Bharata', 'Sampoorna Ramayana', 'Hennu Samsarada Kannu' and 'Yashoda Krishna'. In 1979, Sridevi was seen in Kannada movie 'Priya' opposite rebel star Ambareesh. Superstar Rajinikanth and the song ‘Darling Darling’ were a hit with the youth.
