Mumbai: Rattled over the re-emergence of several social media channels featuring Pakistani artists in India, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take immediate action.
“Recently, after Operation Sindoor, instead of showing remorse, several Pakistani artists have shamelessly spoken against India. Their visible presence on Indian digital platforms today is a betrayal to every soldier who was martyred and every family that still grieves,” the AICWA said in an appeal to the PM.
“It is deeply concerning and absolutely unacceptable that social media accounts of Pakistani artists like Mawra Hocane, Yumna Zaidi, and several Pakistan-based channels are once again visible in India.
"This is not merely a digital appearance — it is a direct insult to the sacrifice of our martyred soldiers and an emotional assault on every Indian who lost a loved one in terror attacks perpetrated by Pakistan,” the film body pointed out.
“This is not merely a digital appearance — it is a direct insult to the sacrifice of our martyred soldiers and an emotional assault on every Indian who lost a loved one in the terror attacks perpetrated by Pakistan. From 26/11 Mumbai strikes to Pulwama, Uri, and recently Pahalgam, Pakistan has consistently waged war on India through terrorism,” said AICWA.
It added that Pakistan has banned Indian movies or content from being viewed in its territory after the Pulwama attack, then why is India giving a platform to Pakistani artists' craft.
“India enjoys diplomatic and cultural relations with around 200 countries and cutting off Pakistan totally would not affect our economy or entertainment industry.
"As long as Pakistani blood is on the hands of our enemies, no trace of Pakistan shall be allowed on Indian soil — not on our screens, not in our films, and not on our social media, until it stops exporting terror” AICWA declared.
The film body urged the PM and the government not to normalise relations with Pakistan, continue the ban on its artists/content, enforce nationwide digital blackout of all Pakistani social media accounts/channels, ban all future tie-ups involving its artists on Indian media, OTT platforms and advertising and announced a permanent boycott of the neighbouring country as a sign of respect to the Indians who have sacrificed themselves for India.
