Three of the Japanese director-producers masterpieces, 'Rashomon', 'Ran' and 'Madadayo' will be shown at the festival to be held in Mumbai between September 1 and 4.
The film festival is a part of Shemaroo Entertainment's World Cinema initiative.
"Kurosawa is considered as one of the greatest film makers in terms of acceptability. He is a major influence on other film makers all over the world and this fest is a nice way to celebrate his birth centenary," Hiren Gada, director of Shemaroo Entertainment, said.
Kurosawa, born in March 1910, directed 30 films in his career and won the Academy award for Lifetime Achievement. He is known for his film like 'Seven Samurai' and 'The Idiot'.
Talking about the choice of films in this festival, Gada said, "Rashomon is his most well-known film, Ran won an Oscar and Madadayo, his last film, is loosely based on the director's life himself."
The film festival has earlier been held in Bangalore and Kolkata and has seen a huge response from the audience, said Gada. It will next be held in the national capital in the second half of September.
