'Rakta Charitra 2', is based on the life of slain political leader Paritala Ravindra, played by Vivek Oberoi, with Surya enacting the role of Maddelacheruvu Suri and Shatrughan Sinha playing N T Rama Rao.

The first part of the movie was mired in controversies with the Human Rights Commission (HRC) complaining that the film glorifies violence besides protests by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) demanding removal of certain scenes that allegedly projected former AP Chief Minister NTR in poor light.

Eyebrows were also raised after the film showed Shivaji Rao (modelled on NTR) giving instructions to Pratap (Paritala Ravi) for killing Bukka Reddy (Obul Reddy). In reality, Rao had died a year before the murder of Reddy.

"The film is inspired by the life of Paritala Ravi. Since it is a fictional, there are bound to be some changes. The film was never intended to be similar to real life characters. All these controversies do not affect me," Varma told PTI.|

The first part of the film that released on October 22 received fair and not-so-good reviews.
"Film reviews do not make any difference to me. There are few people who decide to watch the movie as per reviews," Varma said.

The director said the release of 'Rakta Charitra 2', scheduled in the last week of November, has been postponed to December 3 due to delay in post production.
