It is Women's Day today and with that, a time cherish the women who strive to change the world one step at a time, and one such woman is ace film producer Guneet Monga whose The Elephant Whisperers won the Oscar for Best Documentary.

"I have just begun. I am going to takeover commercial cinema, then international cinema. I want to spread my wings further and tell more stories," Monga told DH as she shared that new doors have opened up for her after the Oscar win.

Expressing her zeal to achieve much more going further, Monga shared how Indian cinema is way beyond just song and dance.

"I don't want white people's perspective in India, I want the world to see our perspective. I want to be able to celebrate India at a very very large scale...and I just got started," Monga, who emphasised that women should not wait for a chair at the table but make their own table, shared.

When asked if there are women in her life who have betted for her, like we see in Anuja, a story of two sisters, the producer shared that despite her being a single child, she now has a "chosen family" that she considers to be her cheer leading group.

"I have had a wonderful girl gang in my life," she told DH as she emphasised on the importance of having female friendships in life, adding that her list extends to a total of 50 people who celebrate her and give her perspective.

Guneet Monga's Kill has been nominated for multiple awards at the 2025 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards.
