Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana, a two-part live-action cinematic universe set 5,000 years ago and rooted in a tradition revered by 2.5 billion people worldwide, is being developed on a scale rivaling the world’s largest film franchises.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Prime Focus Studios and DNEG, in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the project is being filmed for IMAX. Makers have planned to release the movie in two-parts. Part 1 is planned for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 is scheduled to hit theatres in Diwali 2027.

The official launch of the modern epic Ramayana: The Introduction, sets the stage for the legendary clash between lord Rama and the king of Sri Lanka Ravana. The first look has taken the internet by storm, with netizens applauding the makers' vision and hard work.

The 3-minute prelude offers a powerful glimpse into what is being touted as Indian cinema's most ambitious project to date. Minutes from the first teaser drop, social media has been abuzz with excitement.

Set in a mythical era, the universe thrives under the watchful balance of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva—the divine trinity who ensure peace among deities, humans, sages, and demons. But from the ruins of this balance, a new and unprecedented force begins to rise.

Netizens took to social media and flooded platforms hailing this masterpiece. Several users called the visuals “visual spectacle,” “magnificent,” and “goosebumps .” Cinema lovers hailed the makers for their effort and the creative vision for bringing this mythological tale to life in such a grand scale.

If the first look is anything to go by, Ramayana is set to be a cinematic event that will not only capture hearts in India but also leave a global impact.
