Sandalwood has seen its fair share of time travel movies with unique storylines. The latest addition to this list is Hari Prasad Jakka’s ‘Gana’.

‘Gana’ is a murder mystery set within a time travel narrative. It begins with a chilling scene: A child witnesses a double murder in 1993. The story then shifts to 2022, where we meet Ganga (Prajwal Devaraj), a young journalist working for a news channel.

Ganga is assigned to investigate a double murder case, which seems connected to the 1993 murders. As he delves deeper into the case, he discovers a mysterious house allocated by his employer. Upon entering the house, he gets in touch with Sujatha, a school teacher from 1993, through a landline phone. She becomes entangled in his investigation.

As Ganga navigates between 1993 and 2022, he gathers clues and pieces together the puzzle. With Sujatha’s help, he uncovers the truth behind the double murders.

The filmmaker deserves credit for a gripping story and a racy screenplay, but the execution falls short, holding it back from reaching its full potential. The film’s cinematography and editing are particularly disappointing, making it feel outdated. Background music is average. These technical shortcomings detract from the overall viewing experience, leaving the audience underwhelmed.

Prajwal and Ravi Kale are convincing. Vedhika and Yasha Shivakumar have notable screen presence, but their characters feel somewhat underdeveloped.
