Good, Bad, Ugly’ is a blend of action and animation. The plot is not so new — an ex-gangster leaves the mafia world and joins it again only to save his family.

The film is loud, entertaining and unapologetically celebrates Ajith Kumar’s cinematic journey.

The narrative is light in tone. A teenager, Vihaan (played by Karthikeya Dev), is oblivious of his father’s history and awaits his return from prison. AK returns to find his son arrested and soon takes on his previous identity of Red Dragon to find the real culprits. The minimal drama and tension are subtly brought in by Vihaan’s mother, Ramya (Trisha Krishnan). Arjun Das, who plays a dual role, delivers a commendable performance. Special appearances and a mix of popular old songs engage the audience.

The story does not necessarily invest a lot of time in establishing a past for AK nor does it dwell on any serious drama of loss. Even the theme of revenge is diluted in king-size settings and an uneven narrative. However, the attention is thoroughly drawn towards the lead, AK, who transitions from good to bad to ugly. The action sequences are excessively gaudy, yet, the film manages to be entertaining.
