The city of Venice is buzzing with celebration as the founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos is all set to marry former journalist Lauren Sanchez. Amidst a whirlwind of protests, parties, and publicity, the wedding is being watched worldwide. From Ivanka Trump to the Kardashians, this is no less than a wedding bash filled with glamour.
With so many stars present, the locals of Venice are vocal in voicing out their disapproval of the wedding festivities. As Venice faces issues related to over-tourism and climate change, the celebrations will cause disruptions at levels that may hinder the routine lives of Venetians. With the press expected to cover every aspect of the event, and the guests touring the destination, the locals are not very amused.
The couple arrived on Wednesday in a helicopter just as they returned from their pre-wedding plans. People outlined that Bezos and Sanchez had taken the private helicopter, owned by Bezos, from their yacht off-coast from Croatia. The wedding is said to span over three days, with various ceremonies for the guests and couple alike.
The wedding is planned and set up by Lanza and Baucina, who had also helped plan George and Amal Clooney's marriage events. The cost of the ceremony is estimated at around $47–$56 million, and Bezos will donate around $13 million to a research consortium called Corila, which aids preserving Venice's ecosystem.
With many of the details still being kept secret, the ceremony is said to host over 200 guests, with famous names such as Katy Perry, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, Oprah Winfrey, the Kardashian family members, and even Queen Rania of Jordan. The hosts have booked some of the most alluring hotels for their guests, and the aim is to try avoiding the media paparazzi.
The night before the actual wedding, many of the guests were captured attending a casual dinner, as they left on water taxis. Bezos and Sanchez got engaged in May 2023, and have children from their previous marriages. The celebratory gala's hosts have reportedly said that for each guest, they will donating money to various preservation and research-based institutes and organizations to preserve Venice's opulence.
This event is going to be a headliner or the year, from a star-studded ceremony to the coming together of two people. Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, being used to the spotlight, have confirmed the wedding will be a private affair with just them and close circles.
