A major event to honour Indian cinema superstar Dharmendra is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, in the national capital. Hosted by his wife, actor and politician Hema Malini, a prayer meet for Dharmendra will start from 4:00 pm and go on till 6.00 pm at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath.
The event is said to be a high-profile affair, featuring many influential celebrities and public figures. Hema Malini’s daughters, Esha and Ahana, will also be present at the ceremony to pay obeisance.
Sources suggest that Bharat Takhtani and Vaibhav Vora, along with their respective families, will also be present at the venue to help host the attendees.
This is the second event Hema Malini has hosted for Dharmendra. Earlier, she organised an intimate 'Geeta path' ceremony at her Mumbai residence, where she was joined by celebrities and her nearest friends to pay homage.
In contrast to the Deols' event, which focused on celebrating Dharmendra's life, Hema Malini's prayer meet is specifically dedicated to honouring the legend and his life, and it is expected to be attended by a number of political figures.
Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s love story is one of Bollywood’s most beloved chapters. After being in relationship for reportedly five years, Dharmendra and Hema tied the knot in 1980.
Reports indicate that the couple reportedly converted to Islam so they could marry without the need for a formal divorce. They are said to have adopted the names Dilawar Khan and Aisha Bi for their initial private Nikah ceremony, which was subsequently followed by an Iyengar-style wedding to respect Hema’s southern background.
The legendary Indian actor Dharmendra passed away on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the age of 89 in Mumbai after a prolonged illness. Fondly known as the He-Man of Bollywood, had a career spanning over six decades and was regarded as one of the most versatile and beloved actors of Indian cinema.
