A scene from the film.
A scene from the film.

It’s a film that should never have seen the light of celluloid screens. That it has, one can only bemoan the misery it wreaks on its audience. With nothing worth the wanton waste of raw-stock, time and money, ‘Kandha Kottai’ proves the dictum: vacuous flicks can turn killjoy. Tweaking a story as old as hills and a scurrilous script, Shaktivel and Co foist a fetid fare leaving one furious and fuming.

At the heart of KK is Siva (Nakulan) whose life’s mission is to separate all Valentines. His very anti-thesis is Pooja (Poorna) for whom love is all about bringing together cupid-struck couples. Well, need one guess. The twain cross track, sparks strike and the rest as they say in filmy lexicon dad dares, hero defies, and heroine watches from sidelines till the last tango.

In a film nothing to write home about what can one say about its lead pair or its cast. They boisterously add to the bedlam. Stay away and pray New Year ushers in meaningful movies to fight life’s blues away. Touché!.
