A refreshing screenplay and less number of cliches help viewers get over a slow first half.
Post-interval, there’s an upswing in the tempo only to taper out by the climax. The climax appears a bit stretched, too. But Modala Sala is not to be dismissed that easily.
Both Rangayana Raghu and Tara turn in prize-winning performances, shorn of image-created restrictions. Their interplay also brings out the best dialogues -- Purushotham is a clear winner here.
Lending able support is the young pair of Yash and Bhama; assured and natural, their performances also deserve a pat on the back. Venu’s camera work, which initially develops a cataract, and V Harikrishna’s score add polish to this neat film with a few cute moments.
Modala Sala also makes some squirm at its climax, but then that’s again cinema.
