Is actor Govinda headed for a divorce from his wife of 38 years, Sunita Ahuja? As is often the case with film stars and their personal lives, there have been lots of rumours, some gossip but little clarity surrounding the life of Hero No 1 star, of late.
However, previous reports of Sunita and Govinda facing marital troubles have now been nixed after a video of Sunita, denying all claims of a divorce in the works, went viral on social media. Apparently, things are fine between the couple.
In the video, Sunita has also asserted that no one can come between her and Govinda.
She explained, in Hindi, "Alag alag rehte hain matlab... jab unhone politics join kia tha tab meri beti jawan ho rahi thi toh saare karyakarta ghar pe aate the. Toh ab jawan beti hai, hum hain, hum shorts pehen ke ghar pe ghoomte hain... toh isliye humne samne office lia tha." (We live separately... What that means is that when he joined politics, my daughter was growing up and all the party workers would come home. There is a daughter, and me, and we would walk around in shorts all day long so that’s why we took an office right across our apartment).
She added at the end of the video, "Mereko aur Govinda ko iss duniya mein agar koi alag kar de, kisi ka maayi ka laal, toh saamne aa jaye." (There is no one in the world who can dare to separate me and Govinda).
Earlier, Lalit Bindal, a lawyer and a close family friend of Govinda, said Sunita has indeed filed for divorce. "... there are some misunderstandings. I can confirm that she filed for divorce. I have the notice with me. But it will be settled soon," Bindal told PTI.

Govinda, a huge star in the 1990s with films such as Aankhen and Haseena Man Jaayegi, is back in the news with the talk of the divorce. His last film was Rangeela Raja in 2019.
In 2004, he contested Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket and defeated BJP stalwart Ram Naik from Mumbai North. Last year, he joined Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena.
The star, who won many fans with his dance moves, hit the headlines last year when he shot himself in the leg with his licensed revolver by accident.
