Pak play troupe fails to turn up for NSD fest

The organisers carried out advertisements in today's papers saying the staging of "Khwabon Ke Musafir" at the Kamani auditorium here has been postponed due to "unavoidable circumstances till further information". The organisers did not elaborate.
Indian play "Begum Ka Takia" was staged instead.

When contacted, a senior NSD official told PTI that the troupe informed the organisers yesterday that they could not reach New Delhi as scheduled.

They, however, expressed the hope that they will come within the festival period and perform.The organisers are also optimistic that the play will be staged in the festival which ends on January 22.Directed by Zia Mohyeddin, the play is based on a short story by eminent Urdu writer Intizar Hussain.

The play also looks at the new culture that has started in the new geographical and historical entity that Pakistan emerged as.
