The announcement of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth potentially coming together for a new film has sent shockwaves through the industry, sparking endless buzz and fan theories.
Kamal Haasan confirmed they are in talks at an award function, and said that an official announcement will follow soon. Superstar Rajinikanth, too, offered a glimpse into the project and confirmed that the project is very much on and will be produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International in partnership with Red Giant Movies.
Spilling beans about the project, Rajinikanth said, "My next project is with Raaj Kamal and Red Giant, though a director hasn't been chosen yet. We've both had a long-standing desire to act together and were waiting for the right opportunity. The plan is in motion, but the director, story, and characters are not yet finalized.”
The story that is being told to Rajinikanth is reportedly heavily influenced by Alto Knights, a crime drama that depicts the true feud between mob bosses Frank Costello and Vito Genovese.
Sources reveal that Rajinikanth has shown some hesitation to reunite with Lokesh Kanagaraj, especially after Coolie failed to meet expectations. Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan and a few others are reportedly encouraging him to reconsider and give Lokesh a chance to redeem himself.
The stalwarts of Indian cinema Kamal and Rajinikanth have been friends ever since they first met on the sets of Aboorva Raagangal. After working on nearly for over a dozen films, the two decided not to work together in 1979.
On the professional front, Rajinikanth has flown to Palakkad to resume the shooting for Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer 2. He will reportedly join the sets from tomorrow. Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan is seamlessly juggling his multiple roles as a politician, actor, and producer, managing each with remarkable precision.
