Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s latest outing, Sikandar, seems to have failed to strike a chord with viewers and has been getting a lukewarm response despite its festive Eid release. Although the makers report an opening day collection of over Rs 50 crore, industry insiders suggest that the actual collection is nearly half of the reported figure.
Amidst the box-office collection debate, the Salman Khan starrer is struggling at the box-office and is facing an unexpected setback on Day 2 of the release. Reports suggest that the morning shows of Sikandar are getting cancelled due to a lack of audience.
Senior film critic Amod Mehra took to his social media account and wrote, “SHOCKING.. Just heard shows of #Sikandar are being cancelled due to no audience” (sic). He also posted a screenshot depicting no audience for Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna’s Sikandar for the 12:30 pm show at PVR Icon Infiniti Andheri in Mumbai.
Several cinema lovers took to their social media accounts and expressed their disappointment with Sikandar, one of the most anticipated movies of 2025.
A user on X wrote, “Having seen the film, I expect the numbers to decline significantly from tomorrow. I wouldn’t be surprised if they fell slightly today itself. The prob is Salman fans want entertainment cuz that’s his genre. Sikandar lacks entertainment and doesn’t appeal to classes either." (sic)
Another user wrote, “Even Fans Are So Dissappointed With #Sikandar. Literally #SalmanKhan Need to reinvent himself or ye bigg boss krna ki mna kro koi !” (sic)
"Dear @BeingSalmanKhan
Hope u Don't Mind but You Must Have Take Rest Or Retirement 🙏😔 Or Do work with some better scripts Like Bajarangi Bhaijaan, sultan,TZH . Otherwise Don't Do Anything but,plz don't Play with your fans emotions 💔 (sic)," another user wrote on X.
Despite a festive release on Gudi Padwa and Ugadi, Sikandar failed to live up to expectations. However, the film’s underwhelming storyline and poor narrative failed to entertain audiences. Even Salman Khan's star appeal couldn’t drive box-office numbers, and Day 1 reviews suggest that his die-hard fans are disappointed with the film.
Directed by AR Murugadoss, the movie stars Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Sharman Joshi and Sathyaraj in key roles. The film is backed by Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.
