The youth-turning-to-crime-due-to-circumstances theme has finally begun its slow death. Increasingly used to counter mushy, romantic flicks, these crime stories are getting killed right at the box office turnstile. ‘Seena’ is another such film keen on meeting a painful end. In the light of a worn out premise, the director had an opportunity to impose his stamp on narration and presentation.
Too bad, the opportunity is missed. Suffering from rudimentary knowledge of certain components of filmmaking and unable to bring the concept into fruition, the director crams all commercial ingredients pell-mell.
The audio and video do not match; viewers are treated to an impromptu lesson in lip-synching.
Lyrics, music and camera do not work in tandem. Dialogues further reveal the half-formed ideas that the director is left with. Result: lack of cohesion, and belated comprehension. Tharun dances well, fights well. His biggest drawback is his voice which sounds just like that of a teenager subjected to a fresh attack of hormones. Priyanka is yet to master her expressions. Petrol Prasanna is simply disgusting while Ninasam Ashwath is wasted.
More movie-watching recommended, but only for the director.
