The 71st National Film Awards 2023 will be memorable for many reasons. One, however, that topped all else is the news that Shah Rukh Khan earned his first National Film Award. The actor's wait has been more than three decades long, and this year's award, for Atlee's film Jawan, came quite expectedly.

Shah Rukh Khan is indeed the biggest superstar of Indian cinema, having delivered numerous mega blockbusters. Fondly called 'King Khan' and the 'Baadshah of Bollywood,' he is a superstar with unmatched stardom spread across the globe.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan marked a major turning point in his career, as he took a bold risk by collaborating with a debutant Bollywood director, Atlee. The bold choice not only earned him widespread acclaim and historic box-office success but also brought him numerous awards and accolades. The movie perfectly blends action, romance, twists and drama. The movie was one of SRK's blockbusters that dominated the box office across the globe and emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.

The award remains special to him, as this has added yet another prestigious honour to his name. SRK is also the recipient of some of the most esteemed accolades in the world. Shah Rukh Khan has also been awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India, as well as the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Legion of Honour by the Government of France.

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is currently busy completing King. The action-thriller, directed by Siddharth Anand, also features his daughter Suhana Khan. While the first shooting schedule is wrapping up on June 30, the film is slated for a 2026 release.
