It’s a solid love story. So goes Solo’s tagline. However, without much solidity and substance, Solo, a love lore of an orphan, turns out into a trite and tiring session.
Given that it’s never a smooth run for reel romance, you have Gautam’s with Vaishnavi (interning to be a doctor) too hitting proverbial hurdles in the shape of girl’s stubborn papa determined to play spoilsport since he does not believe in matters of love leading to matrimony.
So much so, he dares the smitten beau to sneak away with his lass. The lad, who believes in joint family, shuns the tempting proposition. To spite the languishing lad, the prospective London groom, seeks to have his wedding with Vaishnavi, in the presence of Gautam.
Need one say there’s always a twist in the tale?
Slack and staid in presentation, pedestrian and predictable in direction, Solo, despite the honest intentions behind it simply does not gel.
Where taut script and deft direction would have worked wonders, director Parasuram has preferred prosaic approach with emphasis on drab comedy, routine romance and fickle family values, putting paid to a plausbile entertainer.
