Shooting of Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated movie Jailer 2 is progressing rapidly with director Nelson Dilipkumar leaving no stone unturned to satiate fans expectations. Promising intense action, gripping drama and a powerful new look for the superstar, reports suggest that the makers have locked in the film’s antagonist.
While the first installment featured T K Vinayakan as the antagonist, this time the makers have chosen a Telugu cinema superstar to face off against ‘Thalaivar’ Rajinikanth. After considering nearly half a dozen names, sources suggest Nagarjuna has been finalised for the role.
The casting of Nagarjuna in Jailer 2 was reportedly influenced by his fierce portrayal of 'Simon' in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, where he plays the villain and locks horns with Rajinikanth.
This news has come as a sweet surprise, sparking widespread excitement among fans of both Nagarjuna and Rajinikanth. That being said, fans will now have to wait for a formal announcement from the makers.
Earlier, inclusion of S J Suryah made headlines and stirred excitement about the project. It was also reported that Mirnaa, who played the daughter-in-law of Rajinikanth, is also part of the project. She has shot some crucial scenes along with Ramya Krishnan. Shivarajkumar is confirmed to return as Narasimha in the sequel and has given a 15-day call sheet for the film.
Jailer 2 has already completed two schedules, in Chennai and Kerala with Rajinikanth and will soon have a schedule where they shoot high-action sequences with the antagonist. The shooting of the movie is progressing as per the plans, and the makers are targeting a late 2025 release window.
The film is directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and will show Rajinikanth reprising his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian for one more time. Backed by Kalanidhi Maran under Sun Pictures, the music for the film will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
