Popular film and TV actor Rita Bhaduri, who appeared in various supporting roles in 70 films and more than 20 TV serials, passed away in Mumbai on Tuesday. She was 62.

Rita was undergoing dialysis at Sujay Hospital in Vile Parle, Mumbai, on alternate days.

A 1973-batch student of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, Rita was last seen in the TV serial 'Nimki Mukhiya'.

Actor Shishir Sharma informed about her death on social media. “We deeply regret to inform you that Reeta Bhaduri has departed for her journey beyond. …Extremely sad.. lost a wonderful human being .. a mother to many of us.. will miss Ma...”.

In a statement on Twitter, ColorsTV said: “We at Colors are deeply saddened by the loss of Rita Bhaduri. Our deepest sympathies and condolences."

From the 1970s till the 1990s, Rita acted in several Bollywood movies. She had also acted in several Gujarati movies, though it was not her mother tongue.

She has featured in Bollywood films like 'Virasat', 'Raja', 'Hero No 1', 'Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa', 'Kya Kehna' and 'Beta'.

Her last few Bollywood appearances were in 2002's 'Dil Vil Pyar Vyar' and 2003's 'Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon'.

As far as TV serials are concerned, she has been featured in popular shows like 'Hasratein', 'Sarabhai vs Sarabhai', 'Khichdi', 'Ek Nayi Pehchaan', 'Amanat', 'Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka' and 'Kumkum'. Rita was particularly popular for playing roles of a mother or grandmother.
