Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey, best known for his work in 12th Fail, Sector 36, Haseen Dilruba announced his departure from acting "until time deems right".

In a post in the wee hours of Monday, the actor shared that it was time for him to go back home and recalibrate.

“The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise its time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor.”

“So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between.” Vikrant further wrote.

The sudden decision has left his fans in dismay. "You are one of the most amazing actors in India....don't leave," a user wrote, while another commented: "Whattttttttttttttttt!No please🥺🥺🥺.You are such a good actor,we want to see you in more movies😭😭."

Meanwhile, several users also lauded the actor for "smashing patriarchy" and taking a step back from work for family.

Massey's decision to take a step back from acting comes at a time when the actor has been facing criticism online after a change in his opinion on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party around the release time of his latest - The Sabarmati Report.

"I was a big critic of BJP. But as I travelled across the country, I realised that things are not so bad, Muslims are not in danger in the country," the actor was heard saying in an interview.

Actor Vikrant Massey had also received death threats ahead of the film's release that is set in the aftermath of the Godhra train burning incident in 2002.

It is produced by Ektaa R Kapoor and directed by Dheeraj Sarna. The film also stars Ridhi Dogra and Raashii Khanna.

Meanwhile, the film has been declared tax-free in Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat.
