“The script of the movie was written through a series of discussion along with Pai.  The movie has got good reviews in the German International film festival and was accepted well, hope it will do the same with mass audience too," he told Deccan Herald.

Gopal Krishna Pai was more than happy to receive his first national award.  "Girish was slightly hesitant to write the script in this manner, but later he changed his mind and was excited about zig-zag narration. The narration is different for an Indian language movie," he said.

The movie is about a grave digger and his wife who dreams about future incidences and how they cope up when their dreams fails to come true.

For Arundhathi Nag, who won the best supporting actor award for her role in the Hindi film “Paa,” the recognition came as a “complete surprise” since she did not occupy a big space in the film industry.

Swarna Kamala Award for the Best Children Film of the year went to Kannada film 'Puttani Party', scripted and directed by Ramchandra PN. "It is really great that this movie got the award.  The film lies in its narration and was made in a lineal fragmented approach which challenges the psychological ambience of the movie.  The movie is dedicated to Girish Kasaravalli," said Ramachandra.

Besides the movie awards, Dr K Puttaswamy, won the 'Swarna Kamala' national award for best book on Cinema called "Cinema Yaana".  The book is about Kannada film industry which was written in form of columns in Vikranta Karnataka which is an online Kannada news website.

"I am happy because it is the first National time a Kannada book on Cinema has won the award and for a book written on 75 years of Kannada film industry.  I dedicate this award to the Kannada film journalists," he said.

Kannada actor, Sathish Chandra, who played a role called “Moopan” in this year’s national best film “Kutty Srank” said the movie deserved the recognition. The movie focuses more on three women characters rather than the lead actor and thus he felt woman cinematographer will do justice to their role.
