As the release date of Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth's highly anticipated Tamil-language action thriller movie Coolie nears, the hype surrounding the film is soaring. The excitement is largely due to superstar Rajinikanth's ferocious performance and Lokesh's reputation as a filmmaker. Also, the ensemble cast includes major legendary actors like Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Sathyaraj, and others.
Several reports claim that Coolie is doing record-breaking business and has already crossed Rs 500 crore even before its release. Adding to the curiosity, talks began to circulate about Aamir Khan that he is not just making a cameo but is distributing the movie in the north belt. While this news spread like a wildfire, a statement from Aamir Khan was issued shutting down the rumours.
Aamir Khan Productions issued a statement that read, “Neither Aamir Khan nor his team is involved in distributing Coolie. He has not contacted any distributor or exhibitor. His cameo is purely out of his long-standing bond with director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth. The entire AKP team is currently celebrating the overwhelming response to Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube" (sic).
Aamir Khan is playing Daaha in Coolie, which marks Rajinikanth’s 171st film and also stars Sathyaraj, Upendra, Soubin Shahir and Shruti Haasan in pivotal roles. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music for the film.
Helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the movie is backed by Kalanidhi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures and is set to release in worldwide theatres on August 14.
