Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt for the fourth time in Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol. Sequels don’t work always, nor do prequels. But this one does, amazingly so.

This time, Ethan Hunt gets out of prison, is assigned some challenging jobs, but their job is made difficult by cops chasing them after Hunt and his cohorts are falsely accused of bombing the Kremlin. The team gets a chance to redeem their name when Cobalt (Michael Nyqvist) plans a dangerous nuclear gotterdammerung.

The plot then wends through Dubai and India as the team takes up the mission of stopping Cobalt.

The MI series have been known to blend high voltage action, with some well-scripted plots to keep the adrenalin pumping. Cruise’s stunts at Burj Khalifa, the supposedly tallest building in the world, are heart-stopping.

An interesting amalgamation of stunts by Cruise complemented by his team comprising Paula Patton, Jeremy Renner and Simon Peg, and with hummable background music. Our own Anil Kapoor appears only for some three minutes as a playboy.

Director  Brad Bird, known for his fabulous animated movies including Ratatouille and The Incredibles, has done well enough to be considered as a commendable fourth in the series of eminent directors of MI series - Brian de Palma, John Woo and J J Abrams.
