Harshandeep Singh, a 20-year-old Indian student in Canada, who worked as a security guard was shot dead on Friday in Edmonton, several publications reported quoting the police.

The incident took place in Canada’s Edmonton, and two 30-year-old suspects named Evan Rain and Judith Saulteaux, have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, as per the local police.

“Police say the man was found unresponsive in a stairwell after officers were called to respond to a gunshot inside the building at 106th Street and 107th Avenue in the Central McDougall neighbourhood,” CBC News reported.

Singh was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead, the police said.

The Consulate General of India in Vancouver expressing grief over this incident said, "We r deeply saddened by the tragic death of 🇮🇳n national Shri Harshandeep Singh who was shot dead in Edmonton on 6 Dec. 2 arrested & charged with first-degree murder. We will remain in close contact with authorities & provide required assistance to the bereaved family, (sic)."
