Eight Pakistani soldiers were killed in retaliatory firing by the Indian Army in the Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

Indian troops were responding to the unprovoked ceasefire violation from Pakistan that began early morning and continued till the time of filing this report.

“It was a direct hit. Our assessment is that at least eight enemy troops were killed,” a source in the Army told DH. The firing by heavy 120 mm mortars took place near Kalsian Jhangarh at Sapaskote, ahead of Rajouri.

Two Indian soldiers also received injuries in the firing.
