An eight-year old boy from Tamil Nadu has entered the Guinness Book of World Records as the Lowest Limbo Skater in the world.

A class IV student, I R Medvin Deva, gets the Guinness record for roller-skating under 23 (22.8 -precise) centimetres for a distance of 10 and 25 meters.

The previous record was held by 12-year-old Rohan Kokane of Belgaum in Karnataka, who achieved a roller-skating height of 25 cm over a distance of 10 metres in September 2013.

Deva had performed this feat in February this year in front of the officials representing the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records. The formal certificate recognising his achievement was received from the Guinness Book of Records on Wednesday.

Medvin’s parent, V I Raju, said he went below the frame in his maiden attempt and the boy’s body touched the frame at a 25 m distance, while in his second attempt he went below all 46 frames and covered 43 metres in 13 seconds. “In the third and final attempt, Medvin, in addition to covering all the frames, travelled further to cover 50 metres in 11 seconds,” they said.

“Though Medvin has covered 50 metres, we have applied to Guinness for 10 and 25 metres and have received the certificate for both the distances,” they added.

Medvin began roller-skating at the age of about four, harnessing his extreme flexibility early on to specialise in limbo-skating.

It involves roller-skating under a bar set at a height of lower than 23 cm, shorter than the height of the Guinness specifications.
