The gang members, armed with knives, also took away Rs 2.34 lakh in cash from the Muthoot Mini Financiers (P) Limited company , police said.
As soon as the branch of the company, a mass provider of finance in the form of gold loans, opened for business around 8:45 am, the three men on the pretext of pledging ornaments, entered it. They immediately tied the manager with a rope and then the woman sweeper, the police said.
After some time, when three other staff members entered, the gang tied them up also at knife point and took away the gold and cash kept in an almirah on the first floor, they said. Of the total 27.9 kg of gold ornaments deposited with the company, the gang decamped with 8.6 kg.
