Senior Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi cracked a self-proclaimed "poor joke" while talking about US President Donald Trump not getting the Nobel Peace prize.

"In a lighter vein… with appropriate 'poor joke PJ' forewarning… but concededly witty," Singhvi said while putting a disclaimer in his post on his X (formerly knows and Twitter) handle.

"Trump: Agar mujhe Nobel Peace Prize nahi diya, toh main duniya mein tehelka macha doonga... Nobel Committee: Machado," Singhvi said on X, referring to Maria Corina Machado, Venezuela's opposition activist, winning the esteemed prize that was announced on Friday.

The US President had made it clear that he deserved the Nobel Peace prize, as he claimed to have stopped several wars across the world, including the India-Pakistan conflict in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack. He implied on Monday that he has 'plans to resolve the ongoing conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan,' while maintaining his stance as a peacemaker.

“This will be my eighth war that I have solved, and I hear there is a war now going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan. I said, I'll have to wait till I get back. I am doing another one. Because I am good at solving wars. I am good at making peace,” he said.

The Nobel Committee had awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to Maria Corina Machado “for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy".

On Friday, Maria thanked the US President. "I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!" she stated. She has been receiving significant backlash, and has made headlines for her past posts where she allegedly supported Israel's military action in Gaza.

As Donald Trump visits Israel, he continues to claim that his actions to ensure peace is not for the Peace prize. "In all fairness to the Nobel Committee, it was for 2024. This was picked for 2024,” Trump said while emphasising, “I did this not for Nobel. I did this for saving lives."
