The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) had on Wednesday demanded that the Vice Chancellor, Dr Chandra Krishnamurthy, should give them clarifications on all the alleged irregularities in the University, including delay in distribution of degrees and the process of re-correction of papers.

"The University is not student-centric and we want the Vice Chancellor to resign immediately on moral grounds for not taking any action against the staff who had beaten up the students," an ABVP activist said.

Although Krishnamurthy had promised to meet them on Wednesday, but no such meeting took place.

The university's non-teaching staff had allegedly misbehaved with the students to disburse them. Some students were beaten up by the varsity staff, alleges ABVP, after which an FIR was filed by them.

Meanwhile, Krishnamurthy told PTI that on Wednesday ABVP activists started protesting right from her residence till she reached the university campus in south Mumbai.
"They also allegedly locked some of the staff members, including women, inside their office rooms during their protest," she said.

The ABVP activists are protesting outside the VC's office and a large number of police personnel are present to prevent any untoward incident.
