Achuthanandan submitted that he had cash in hand of Rs 3,000 and Rs 80,295 as bank deposits.The total income of the 87-year-old leader, who entered the fray from Malampuzha segment today, was shown as Rs 3,43,994 as per the income tax returns filed for 2009-10.
Achuthanandan, who hails from Punnapra North in Alappuzha district, did not inherit or acquire any property, according to the asset details.
His wife Vasumathy, a state service pensioner, owns 10 cents of land at Paravoor in Alappuzha district, purchased in 1982 at a price of Rs 18,000, which has a current market value of Rs 1 lakh. She also has gold ornaments of 100 grams valued at Rs 1,96,000.
Vasumathy has Rs 10,000 as cash-in-hand and Rs 5,70,635 as bank deposits and holds share of Rs 5,000 in the Malayalam Communications, which runs the pro-CPI (M) Kairali TV channel.
