At the N S C Bose international airport here, Advani told reporters, "Despite political differences, it is our duty to pay homage to a great leader like Basu. He had placed the CPI(M) in a commanding position in Parliamentary democracy."
Advani accompanied by party president Nitin Gadkari and JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav arrived at the West Bengal assembly premises where Basu's body was kept and placed a wreath on it. Paying tribute to the veteran CPI(M) leader, Gadkari said he would be remembered for his role in farmers' movement.
