BJP patriarch L K Advani on Saturday criticised the Congress leadership for skipping a function in Parliament to pay tribute to Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee.
Mookerjee, who was a minister in Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet, founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the first Hindu nationalist political party. A function was organised in Parliament’s Central Hall to mark Mookerjee’s birth anniversary.
But Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Rajya Sabha chairperson Hamid Ansari and Congress MPs were missing.
