Securing border and saving environment appear to be the Border Security Force’s mantra. The security force on Wednesday improved its own record by planting four lakh saplings in 30 minutes in various parts of the country.
Last year, the BSF had planted two lakh saplings in 30 minutes and had entered the Limca Book of Records.

On Wednesday, BSF personnel planted saplings at all BSF locations, including at the Border Out Posts (BOPs) at the sensitive Indo-Pak border.
“At all Frontiers Headquarters, Sector Headquarters, Training Institutions, Battalion Headquarters and all Border Outposts,” a senior BSF official said. This is part of BSF Golden Jubilee celebrations. “This is a special programme to make our personnel aware about the issue of global warming. Border Security Force undertakes awareness programme each year to promote the preserving of biodiversity and other issues of impact, related to environment,” the official said.
In Delhi and the NCR, around 4,500 saplings were planted during this campaign, which included fruit plants and ornamental plants.
At BSF Chhawla Campus in New Delhi, the plantation programme was inaugurated by BSF Director General D K Pathak. Pathak stressed on the importance of planting trees and said that our life is dependant on the trees.
