New Delhi: Ahead of the Winter session of the Parliament, the government is convening its customary all party-meet on Sunday. The government will discuss the legislative agenda, which will include the celebration of 75 years of the Constitution.

In a post on X, union parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju made the announcement. “The All Party Meeting will be held on 24th November at 11am in the Main Committee Room, Parliament House Annexe, in view of the coming Winter Session of Parliament,” Rijiju posted. The Winter Session will begin on November 25 and end on December 20.

While the government will attempt to set the legislative agenda, the ongoing crisis in Manipur as well as the deteriorating air quality in the capital are some of the sticky issues the government is likely to face from the Opposition. The government will also observe November 26 as Constitution Day, to mark 75 years of the Indian Constitution. A Joint Session of both Houses will be held in the Central Hall of the old Parliament, the Samvidhan Sadan to mark the occasion.

The ruling BJP, on its own part, is likely to either introduce the contentious Waqf Amendment Bill, or atleast submit the report of the Joint Parliamentary Committee formed to examine it. The government is also keen to introduce the ‘One Nation One Election’ bill, and PM Modi has recently exhorted its need.

The results of the Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections could also have a bearing on the floor dynamics in the Lok Sabha. In the last session, the treasury benches faced the brunt of the Opposition’s onslaught when the BJP managed to win only 240 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, with PM Modi facing repeated disruptions.

The Lok Sabha is also likely to see two new faces – the Congress is defending seats in Maharashtra’s Nanded as well as Kerala’s Wayanad, a seat contested by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi vacated it to retain Raebareli.
