The alert was sounded by the Gujarat police after the central intelligence agencies passed on an advisory to the state agencies.

The e-mail, according to the police officials, was received by the National Investigation Agency from an unknown outfit — “Kill Indians”.

The group has allegedly claimed responsibility for the Delhi High Court blast. It has further warned of a major terror strike.

Though it has not mentioned the name of the city but has revealed a code which the agencies have deciphered as Ahmedabad.

“We are not taking any chance and following this advisory from the central agencies, we have beefed up security in the city,” said Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Sudhir Sinha.
He said the police in the city have intensified security arrangement and deployed state reserved police force at key points and sensitive areas.

“On Thursday night, the police carried out a comprehensive checking at hotels, guesthouses and other places in the city and also on the highways. Vehicles entering the city are also being checked,” Sinha said.
