“I do not look back at the past. I think of the future. Why ask about the past,” was Mulayam’s stock reply to a barrage of queries pertaining to Amar Singh at a press conference here. Yadav had, after dilly-dallying for 11 days, accepted the resignation of Singh from all party posts on Sunday.

He also dropped hints that Amar’s bete noire and former SP leader Azam Khan could return to the party now. “I shall reply to the queries only when something concrete comes to the fore,” he said when asked whether Khan could make a comeback. Party sources, however, confided that Khan was likely to return to the party fold in the near future.
