A Kashmiri student of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was suspended after he mocked the Pulwama tragedy in which 49 CRPF jawans were martyred.
Basim Hilal, a student of B.Sc at AMU, who posted a message on his Twitter handle mocking the tragedy, was also booked by the police under Section 153 A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the IT Act.
''How's the Jaish? Great Sir.'' the message said apparently paraphrasing a dialogue in the movie 'Uri-The Surgical Strike' which says 'How's is the josh?''.
Police sources said that a case was registered against Hilal and the matter was being investigated.
''We can not tolerate such objectionable posts... we have suspended the student as soon as we came to know about the post,'' a spokesman said.
Sources said that Hilal hailed from Jammu & Kashmir and lived at BM Hostel in AMU. He was a B.Sc (Maths) student.
Barely a few days back 14 students of AMU had been booked for sedition after they allegedly took a march in the varsity campus and raised ''anti-India'' slogans.
