The suspects, Syed Sameer from Warasiguda and Siraj-ur-Rehman from Vizianagaram, were reportedly receiving instructions from Islamic State (IS) handlers in Saudi Arabia.

The men had purchased bomb-making materials, including ammonium sulphate and aluminium powder, and had selected locations for testing explosive devices. Siraj-ur-Rehman’s family members serve in the police department in Vizianagaram.

Siraj had worked in various Hyderabad locations after completing his BTech and allegedly established ties with terrorist modules. Intelligence monitored him for six months due to his social media support for Pakistan. Sameer’s involvement was revealed during Siraj’s interrogation.

Both suspects appeared in court on Monday and were remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. The National Investigation Agency has started a broader investigation into the six-member cell linked to the plot. Authorities are actively pursuing the remaining suspects.
