Hyderabad: An ONGC Assistant Accountant named Vanapalli Chandrakishore took his own life after killing his two young children. The incident took place on Friday on the day of Holi in in Vakalapudi of Kakinada district.
The victims were identified as Joshil 7 and Nikhil 6, students in Class 1 and UKG respectively. Police said that Chandrakishore had tied the children's hands and legs before drowning them in water-filled buckets. He subsequently hanged himself from a ceiling fan.
A suicide note discovered at the scene indicated that Chandrakishore was concerned about his children's academic performance and believed they had no future. The note stated that he could not bear the thought of his children's future struggles, which drove him to this tragic decision.
According to Sarpavarram CI Ch Peddiraju, Chandrakishore was originally from Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district and was employed at the ONGC office in Vakalapudi, Kakinada district. He lived in a flat in town with his wife Tanuja and their two children. The family had recently changed the children's school due to concerns about their academic progress.
On Friday, during Holi celebrations, Chandrakishore took his family to festivities at his office. Following the event, he told his wife he was taking the children to a tailor for uniform measurements and would return within ten minutes, instructing her to wait.
When he failed to return and didn't answer phone calls, Tanuja went home accompanied by colleagues. Looking through a window, they discovered Chandrakishore hanging from a ceiling fan. After forcing entry into the home, they found both children with their hands and legs tied and their heads submerged in buckets of water. Upon witnessing the scene, Tanuja collapsed in shock.
Police have seized the suicide note in which Chandrakishore wrote that his children couldn't compete in today's demanding world and had no future, explaining his decision to end their lives along with his own.
Family members expressed disbelief, stating that Chandrakishore faced no financial difficulties, owned property, and was not someone they would have expected to take such drastic action.
