Amaravati: A delegation of YSRCP leaders met Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer on Thursday, accusing the TDP-led government of "authoritarian governance, undemocratic practices", and deliberately neglecting the security of its leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The delegation led by senior YSRCP leader B Satyanarayana, alleged that the government was indulging in vindictive actions, registering false cases, and failing to provide Z-plus category security to Reddy, which he is entitled to.
“They brought to the Governor’s attention the government’s failure to ensure Jagan’s safety during his public tours, accusing the administration of orchestrating conspiracies to tarnish his reputation,” said a YSRCP press release.
The leaders referred to a fatal accident involving a YSRCP supporter while Reddy was en route to Rentapalla village in Palnadu district.
They told the Governor that police initially claimed the accident was caused by a private vehicle, but later shifted the blame to Reddy’s convoy and registered a case against him.
“This is an unprecedented abuse of power. The government is fabricating cases to intimidate YSRCP leaders and suppress public support for YS Jagan, a leader with immense public backing,” said Satyanarayana.
The delegation further alleged that the coalition government was using diversionary tactics to shift attention away from growing public discontent over unfulfilled promises made during its one-year tenure.
He appealed to the Governor to ensure the restoration of democratic norms and the safety of opposition leaders.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh High Court is hearing a quash petition against the FIR registered against Reddy and others over Singayya’s death.
The court is expected to resume hearing in the matter on Friday.
Meanwhile, there was no immediate reaction from the TDP.
