George Baker, an actor who fought 2014 Lok Sabha polls on a BJP ticket, and Richard Hay, a former economics professor from Kerala, were on Thursday nominated to Lok the Sabha in Anglo-Indian community quota.
The nominations came 14 months after the new Lok Sabha came into being last year, which prompted the community to petition both President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi several times. Deccan Herald had in May reported that Bengaluru-based Federation of Anglo-Indian Associations in India had urged the President to take action in filling the seats.
"The President has nominated Prof Richard Hay and George Baker as members of the Anglo-Indian Community to the Lok Sabha, today," a statement from the Union Home Ministry said.
