Ankeet Chavan, an accused in the IPL spot-fixing case, surrendered before Saket court on Thursday on expiry of a week’s interim bail granted to him to solemnise his marriage.

Chavan, who along with Rajasthan Royals teammates S Sreesanth and Ajit Chandila, is now booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, surrendered before chief metropolitan magistrate Lokesh Kumar Sharma, who remanded him in judicial custody till June 18.

Accompanied by his father, younger brother and his wife, Chavan entered the courtroom with his defence counsel and presented himself to court.

While sending Chavan to Tihar jail, the court said, “Since the investigation agency does not require his custody anymore, he is taken into judicial custody and remanded till June 18.”

He broke down when the judge ordered that he be sent to judicial custody till June 18. He again cried while being led to the jail van while his newly wed wife and family members looked on.
