Former Madhya Pradesh Congress president Arun Yadav will challenge three-term Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in his stronghold of Budhni in the November 28 Assembly elections.

The Congress on Thursday cleared Yadav's candidature as it issued the sixth list for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections.

Former BJP minister Sartaj Singh, who did not find a mention in the BJP list of candidates, switched loyalties to the Congress on Thursday morning.

Singh was fielded by the Congress from the Hoshangabad Assembly seat.

The Congress also withdrew its candidate Preeti Agnihotri from Indore-1 assembly seat in favour of Sanjay Shukla, who had threatened to contest as an independent.

The Congress also decided to leave Jatara seat for Loktantrik Janata Dal, the political outfit launched by socialist leader Sharad Yadav.

Satyanarayan Patel, considered close to senior leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, has been fielded from Indore-5 Assembly seat.
