Police sources said they have been arrested as they openly supported Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan administration in their social media posts. Most of the posts were in Facebook, said the police source.

"They were tracked down based on their social media posts and arrested by police in that locality since Friday," said a source.

"Police is keeping close watch on social media and similar action would be taken against those found supporting the Taliban," said the source.

Special director general of police (law and order), GP Singh said they have been arrested as their posts "attracted provisions of law of the land." "People are advised to be careful in posts/likes etc. on social media paltforms to avoid penal provisions," he tweeted.

Police said all 14 have been booked under Sections of IT Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the IPC.
