The agreement has been brokered by All India Akhara Parishad chief Mahant Gyan Das even as Ansari’s relentless appeal for resolving the issue out of court has won wider support in Ayodhya and has made him a symbol of communal harmony.
“The next few days are crucial...something concrete may come out during this period,” Mahant of the famous Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya and Gyan Das said on Friday.
Sources said Ansari could meet the representatives of Nirmohi Akhara, one of the main plaintiffs in the temple-mosque ownership case, “soon” followed by another meeting with Ram Janambhoomi Trust chairman Mahant Nritya Gopal Das.
“Several proposals have been prepared by the various parties...all of them will be discussed by the contesting parties...we are sure something positive will definitely emerge out of the discussions,” said a saint associated with the Parishad.
The saints trying to resolve the matter amicably claimed another victory when they said that the high-powered committee on the Ram Janambhoomi temple construction agreed to discuss the proposal put forward by Nirmohi Akhara in its meeting, which is likely to be held in the third week of this month.
Ansari, who has emerged as a symbol of “Hindu-Muslim unity” in Ayodhya, also exuded confidence that the matter would be amicably resolved before the expiry of the deadline for approaching the Supreme Court to challenge the decision of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court.
