Baa of famous Saas-Bahu serial dead

Television artiste Sudha Shivpuri, who had essayed the role of ‘Baa’ in Ekta “Kapoor’s famous family soap, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi”, passed away on Wednesday.

In 2013, she suffered a stroke and has been unwell since then. She had to be admitted to a hospital at Andheri, where she passed away due to multi-organ failure. The last rites were performed post-noon.

She was 77 and is survived by a son and a daughter. Sudha started her acting career with Basu Chatterjee’s “Swami” in 1977. She was later seen in films like “Insaaf Ka Tarazu”, “Hamari Bahu Alka”, “Sawan Ko Aane Do”, “Sun Meri Laila”, “Burning Train”, “Vidhaata” and “Maya Memsaab”. At  the age of 31, she married popular actor Om Shivpuri and worked with him at the Delhi theatre. Later, the couple formed a theatre company of their own, Dishantar.
 She played lead roles in many plays that were directed by her husband and performed at Dishantar. In the nineties, she shot into fame with role in Television serials.
