The Narendra Modi government at the Centre has “lost the trust of farmers” and the Congress will try to win it back if it is voted to power, party MP Rahul Gandhi asserted on Tuesday.
Stepping up attack, the Congress on Monday demanded the dismissal of UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar over the draft guidelines for "de-reservation" of posts in higher education institutions, with party leader Rahul Gandhi alleging it was a "conspiracy" to end the reservation given to SC, ST and OBC categories.

In a post on X, Supriya Shrinate wrote, "A huge crowd had come to meet Rahul ji, when a woman suddenly came forward to meet him, the car had to be stopped suddenly. The windshield of the car was broken due to the rope used in the security circle."
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said Rahul Gandhi's claim that the caste survey in the state was conducted under pressure from the Congress was ‘nonsensical’.
Talking to reporters three days after he dumped the 'Mahagathbandhan' in which the Congress is a constituent, and returned to the BJP-led NDA, Kumar, the JD (U) president, claimed that he did not like the nomenclature of the opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A.

BJP-RSS are bent on destroying democracy. Today, ED is misused to put pressure on opposition parties and attempts are made to achieve victory by weakening the institutions. Recently we saw in Chandigarh how BJP got its votes through the election officer. People's faith in democracy is decreasing. Today we did not see this truth of the country in the President's speech.
We had hoped that in her address the President would express concern over the attack being carried out by BJP-RSS on democracy, Constitution and Parliament.
This should also have been mentioned in the President's speech in the new House that...
- Why were 146 MPs suspended for asking questions in the last session?
- Why was a woman MP expelled citing the issue of portal password as a matter of national security?
- Why was no action taken against that BJP MP, on whose PASS, panic was spread in the Parliament?

I want to say to every citizen of West Bengal that you people show the way to the country, you are intellectual people. Personalities like Rabindra Nath Tagore ji, Subhash Chandra Bose ji and Amartya Sen ji come from Bengal. In such a situation, it is your responsibility to stand against the 'ideology of hate'. I thank you wholeheartedly for the love and support you have given to 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra'.
Therefore, in 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' we gave a slogan - 'We have to open a shop of love in the market of hatred'. Because we know that the country cannot progress through hatred and violence, the country can progress through love and brotherhood.
Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday asserted that a countrywide caste census would be conducted if the party comes to power at the Centre in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
While addressing a rally as part of 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' in West Bengal's Malda district, Gandhi accused the RSS and the BJP of propagating hatred and violence.
"The Agnipath Scheme has been introduced in haste. No advice or consultation was sought from the defense committee, parliament, defense experts, or opposition. The ongoing recruitments were suddenly halted. Those who had already been selected, around 1.5 lakh of them, did not receive appointment letters. All of them are struggling continuously. The Agnipath Scheme, connected to our security system, is the foundation of our country’s security. It raises questions of unemployment across the country."
Jairam Ramesh in a tweet said, "Truly unbelievable scenes in Malda district, West Bengal. The bus yatra has virtually ground to a halt as tens of thousands of people on the streets make it near-impossible for the bus to move."
"Leaving 1.5 lakh youth already selected in the armed forces helpless in the name of a temporary recruitment firepath is a grave injustice to them. Today in Katihar, there was a discussion with some enthusiastic youth who had done hard penance for years to join the army. The Agneepath scheme is a betrayal not only of the patriotic youth but also of the sacred sentiments of the country attached to the Indian Army. We have started the Voice of Justice - JAY JAWAN campaign against the injustice being done to these youth," tweeted Rahul Gandhi.
