A newly wedded man's marriage took an unexpected turn as the bride robbed him and fled with lakhs, in Bihar's Kishanganj. The victim, Rakesh Gupta claimed that the woman, Ishika, is married to another man in West Bengal.
The man, former General Secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha Rakesh Gupta, has alleged that his in-laws were not allowing their daughter to stay with him at night in their house, as per a report by NDTV. Gupta believes his in-laws are complicit in their daughter's plan.
Gupta, a resident of Dharamganj, said the two first had a court marriage, followed by a ceremony in a temple and a lavish reception in Bihar.
Gupta alleged that he has paid lakhs of rupees to support his in-laws on Ishika's request. One day Gupta's in-laws called him to take their daughter to the hospital, and once she returned to her parents' home, she disappeared.
The mother of the bride has denied all allegations and claimed that the couple were never married but only engaged.
Gupta said he has given her a plot of land in addition to Rs 30 lakh. He added that Ishika had cheated another man nine months ago in West Bengal's Kanki.
Based on Gupta's complaint the police have filed a case. A photo of the woman in a bridal outfit with another man has gone viral. Gupta and his family confronted the other man, which led to a fight. The police were subsequently called to Ganga Babu Chowk.
